Help us meet our goal of raising $30,000 to support youth victims of child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and sex trafficking in Tompkins County. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Kids Are Our Business, and although we are disappointed we won’t be able to celebrate in person, we are hard at work planning a live, virtual breakfast on Wednesday, June 2nd from 8:30-9:00am. All campaign supporters will be invited to attend!

(a local and socially distanced pick up spot will be set up on June 1st.)

Kids Are Our Business raises much needed funds for youth victims of abuse. The pandemic has left young victims more isolated and less safe. Last year we supported 34% more youth victims of abuse than the previous year. Your support makes sure that every youth victim receives the support they need and deserve.

The History of Kids Are Our Business

Over the past 20 years, members of our community have traditionally come together to support our annual “Kids Are Our Business” breakfast, our agency’s largest fundraiser. This annual event raises much needed funds services for youth survivors of child sexual abuse, domestic violence and sex trafficking. The Advocacy Center’s youth services programs ensure that children in Tompkins County receive the help they need to recover from the trauma in their life.

As the pandemic struck last year, and in person events were cancelled, we were faced with an unexpected hole in our budget.  At the same time we saw a dramatic increase in need in our community.  Between July and December our advocates answered over 50% more calls on our 24 hour hotline.  And in 2020 our advocates supported 44% more children and teens who had been sexually abused as compared to the previous year.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of KAOB, and although we are disappointed we won’t be able to celebrate this milestone in person, we are hard at work planning a virtual breakfast on Wednesday, June 2nd and we hope that you can join us. We are asking our community and sponsors to help us meet the goal of raising $30,000 to support youth survivors in Tompkins County in a time when we are seeing a surge in the need for our critical services.

We hope that you can join us!  Stay tuned for more information and registration details.
